What is KVM?

KVM hypervisor enables full virtualization capabilities. It provides each VPS with all typical services of the physical system, including virtual BIOS (basic input/output system) and virtual hardware, such as processor, memory, storage, network cards, etc. As a result, every VPS completely simulates a physical machine.

How do I connect to the VPS server?

You can connect to the VPS from the Virtualizor control panel, your client area, VNC, or SSH-using a free software called Putty.

What operating systems are available for VPS?

VPS servers currently support the latest versions of popular Linux distributions such as CentOS, Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu, openSUSE, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux. Several Windows server templates are also available for Evaluation installations. Additionally, Rad Web Hosting provides over 40 ISOs for manual installation and clients can upload custom ISO files for installation of custom operating systems.

Do VPS Servers support IPv6?

Yes, our VPS servers support IPv6. Rad Web Hosting supports IPv6 enablement. Each VPS is automatically assigned a /64 IPv6 subnet (18,446,744,073,709,551,616 IPs) at no cost.

Are the VPS servers managed or unmanaged?

By default, VPS are provided as unmanaged servers. If you would prefer a fully-managed VPS server, we offer multiple management levels to meet your specific requirements. Will I get root-level access to the VPS server?

Yes, you will have full root access to your server. Root credentials will be delivered to you as soon as your server has provisioned. All of the necessary server credentials will be provided during provisioning, so you can begin using your server immediately.

Is any port access to the VPS blocked (i.e. port 25, 465, 587, etc)?

Accepted Answer

No, we do not pre-configure any port blocks or firewall block of your VPS server. You may configure your own rules for accessing this server over TCP or UDP on any ports using your preferred firewall software. We also recommend ConfigServer Security & Firewall (CSF) VPS, which provides a user-interface for managing a server's firewall and security configurations.

Will I get access to a web-based VPS management panel?

In addition to optional cPanel and WHM panels, your VPS can be managed from your VPS panel account and you will receive the login details upon order completion. Your VPS can also be managed from within your Rad Web Hosting client account, thanks to our in-bulit management platform.

How long will it take to activate my VPS server?

What happens if I exceed the bandwidth allotment for my VPS?

This is a common concern. Fortunately, Rad Web Hosting offers the best bandwidth procedures for VPS servers. Rather than suspending the service (causing disruption of service for our clients), the server continues to operate as normal through the anniversary/renewal date. Our systems will generate an 'Overage billing' invoice, billing $0.025/GB for bandwidth used in excess of the monthly limit of your VPS plan. The 'Overage Billing' invoice must be paid within 10 days to avoid suspension of service. You will also be able to upgrade your monthly bandwidth limits, which is helpful (and more economical) if your server frequently exceeds monthly limits.

How many IPs are provided with VPS?

Unless stated otherwise, VPS include 1 IPv4 address. Configure additional IP address resources on the order form during checkout.

What is the difference between cPanel and WHM?

cPanel allows the end-users to easily manage files, giving access to configurations and files only available for their domain. This is primarily used for domain/website management. You can view settings and configurations from WHM (Web Host Manager) that only root can access and change the server. This helps keep the server secure and adds an additional filter, so end-users using a standard cPanel do not restart your server or make other significant changes to the server, negatively impacting it. WHM is used for server-level management that you can generally do in SSH as root.
